Happy Monday, one and all. We hope everyone had a great weekend. Of course, though the market welcomed you back, it didn't do so with a lot of zeal.

We'll look at it in a moment, as we typically do, but first I want to show you a chart that just might give us all reason to pause before we talk (or assume) we actually know anything about what the Fed's going to do next.

Happy hump-day, everybody. We're going to be short and sweet today, just because there's not much to talk about. We knew the market was poised to rollover by yesterday's close, and it looks like it's happening as of today. But, none of the major indices have broken down in a big way yet, so for the time being we're simply stuck in the middle... a place we've all gotten used to being this year.

Here's the chart of the S&P 500. As you can see, we just logged our second decidedly-bearish day in a row after the rally slowed last week. On the other hand, the S&P 500 seems to be finding something of a floor around the 50-day moving average line as well as at a former ceiling around 1994 (dashed). That's going to happen when traders don't quite know what to do next but feel like they have to do something.

Good morning, one and all. We weren't planning on sending an early edition today, but sometimes, things come up that merit immediate attention. This one of those times... news from Cardinal Resources (CDNL). I know a bunch of you have been watching this polarizing company closely, so this morning's press release is one worth diving into.

Long story made short, Cardinal Resources has lined up some big-time funding in exchange for about half the company.

Deals like this aren't always ideal, but we broadly like the way this one took shape. The big buyer is also a customer/distributor, which means not only does the buyer like the product, but it also has enough faith in the company's RedBird Systems that it's willing to put its own money where Cardinal Systems' mouth is.

Welcome back from the weekend, everybody. And, happy Columbus Day! OK, unless you work for a bank and/or the federal government or you tried to go to a bank or to a federal government office, you wouldn't have even known it - the stock market was open all the same. But, for those few of you who get the day off, we hope you enjoyed your three-day weekend.

In any case, we've got a few things to work through today... not much. Let's just kick things off by poking a little fun at the few things that did happen on this slow news day. In no particular order...

Today's newsletter is probably one of the shortest I've written in a long while. Whether that's good news or bad news is largely a matter of perspective, but I've made a commitment to never put a lot of words in print just for the sake of a word count - there's simply not a whole lot to talk about today.

On the other hand, there's always something to talk about... or make fun of.
