Welcome back everyone. Hope you all had a nice long weekend, celebrating it however it is you celebrate. There's one more week left to go this year, however, and though volume is apt to be very light, I can still see some opportunities with individual stocks popping up. More on that below. First I want to take a look at the broad market, since it's at a crossroads after last Friday's surprising gain.

Good day all... We've got all of the major indexes up on the day today but what I think is more interesting to note here is that over the last few days the DOW and S&P have both been outperforming the NASDAQ. If it wasn't such a low volume non-event type couple of weeks we're in, this might actually mean something. Reason being, ever since early '09 when the markets found their base and decided to rally, the NASDAQ led the charge the whole way. At least as far as the major indexes go.

This is something we're going to keep a very close eye on because I really do find it hard to believe that the DOW and the S&P will lead the next leg up if we're going to get one. Too soon to tell but if this trend continues into January, we may have a shifting of the tide. For now, we're not going to make much of it though. What I am going to make something of today is something you may not have ever realized. If you already know, then hats off to you. You are probably in the 20% bracket of investors who make 80% of the money.

I've been reading and watching all of these videos online from naysayers and doom and gloom preachersthat the U.S. economy is on the verge of imploding, the dollar will no longer be the world currency of choice, the dollar is going to be revalued, we're going to see a new currency, the U.S. is in a hyper inflationary environment and all kinds of B.S. Honestly, could any one of theabove prove true? Sure, anything is possible but we all have to remember, this Country has a history or resiliency. The American people are resourceful and capitalism is as healthy as it has ever been both here and abroad.

The markets have pulled back in recent days and as I've suggested on more than one occasion, this market has not provided any significant indication that we've found a bottom or put in a top. From a trading perspective, we're very close to making a definitive call. However, from a long-term perspective, the lower stocks go, the better opportunity it presents for prudent investors to start building positions for the long-haul.

Well SCN folks, if you don't like the market one day, you may like it the next. That's the environment we're in, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. We're still in a holding pattern with the major indexes. The recent selling of the tops and buying of the dips appears to still be in play but like I've said over the last few days, I don't think the risk reward for trading the indexes is quite there yet. However, today's gap up is a field goal for the bulls even though the markets have sold off since the open. A break of 2324 to the upside on the NDX would likely spark a nice healthy year-end rally but that remains to be seen. We'll know as soon as anyone if it's time to get long or get short. I do not suggest trying to short this market in the near-term, that could prove fatal for your trading account.

Although the major markets don't appear to be yielding tremendous value at current levels, we've identified and uncovered a new Featured Stock that we are COMPLETELY enamored with. I highly suggest you have a hard look at today's newsletter and decide for yourself, but I'm telling you, I believe today's new idea is a winner in the making. It has all of the right components... stock price is way off its highs, fundamentally sound and in a high growth sector, and it's an idea I don't think is going to take very long to see some serious upside. If you've been around small stocks as long as I have, I think you'll agree ideas like this only come along every so often.

winner.jpgWell, we couldn't have made a more perfect market call last Friday. For those of you who weren't paying attention, we pegged the short-term bottom in the general market indexes last Friday providing over 100% returns on the QQQ call options for December. They say if you can't toot your own horn, who will? Basically, we crushed it and sure hope you did too. Now, we may run into a little short-term resistance so I would suggest taking your profits. If the market runs into the close, it might be a good time to pick up some December puts on the QQQ's or SPY's or, you can wait for a decent pullback and jump in to the long side. We'll keep an eye on it so be sure to follow our newsletter as often as possible.

Onward and upward... I scan the markets daily and talk to many colleagues who make very large livings in the market. Yesterday, an idea popped up on my screen that my trading prowess couldn't resist sharing with you. This stock, much like the Rite Aid (RAD) trade I gave you recently (which has continued to trade up nicely, by the way) appears to have the stars aligning from a technical perspective. But first, let me say it's important to know the difference between trading and investing.
