I've been reading and watching all of these videos online from naysayers and doom and gloom preachersthat the U.S. economy is on the verge of imploding, the dollar will no longer be the world currency of choice, the dollar is going to be revalued, we're going to see a new currency, the U.S. is in a hyper inflationary environment and all kinds of B.S. Honestly, could any one of theabove prove true? Sure, anything is possible but we all have to remember, this Country has a history or resiliency. The American people are resourceful and capitalism is as healthy as it has ever been both here and abroad.
The markets have pulled back in recent days and as I've suggested on more than one occasion, this market has not provided any significant indication that we've found a bottom or put in a top. From a trading perspective, we're very close to making a definitive call. However, from a long-term perspective, the lower stocks go, the better opportunity it presents for prudent investors to start building positions for the long-haul.
My own personal opinion, as others freak out, take advantage of their fear and maintain conviction. I firmly believe the backdrop for U.S. investing is going to gain traction once again. Bottoms take time. Set aside all of the noise and invest in companies you believe stand to benefit from shifts in sector trends, companies you are familiar with and stocks on the forefront of capitalizing on new technologies in growing industry segments.
With that being said, we've got a few very nice developments on a couple of Featured Stocks over the last few days and some interesting insight from some of our Members and Contributors...
CommerceTel (MFON) Picks Up Hooters
We're all familiar with Hooters, right? CommerceTel (MFON) came out this morning and announced the Chanticleer Holdings (CCLR), owner and operator of Hooters restaurants internationally, has selected CommerceTel as its exclusive partner to facilitate mobile marketing and digital display campaigns such as voting, text alerts, and special offers, to all of its international Hooters locations. Initial roll-out will commence with three locations in South Africa.
This is huge news for MFON as they continue to add to their laundry list clientele of who's who. This is a perfect opportunity to discover what's going on in the rapidly growing space of mobile marketing. I strongly suggest you read the PR in its entirety so you can get a complete understanding of why MFON is continuing to become the platform service of choice for small and large multi-nationals alike who are migrating to the rapidly growing space of mobile marketing. Today's press release provides examples and strategies for how mobile marketing can provide consumer engagement like never before.
I wouldn't take the mobile advertising space lightly. It's literally allowing advertisers the opportunity to not only measure their advertising dollars (which has always been the challenge), it's allowing them to engage consumers in a way that was never before possible. Truly revolutionary stuff and MFON is right smack in the sweet spot of it all.
FDA Provides Supportive Feedback to Atheronova (AHRO)!
Atheronova announced it has established a clear development plan, including Phase I and Phase II protocol outlines, based on the recently finalizedminutes of its pre-IND (Investigational New Drug) meeting with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its AHRO-001, a compound for the treatment of atherosclerosis. The Company has incorporated guidance from the FDA and is moving forward with its IND enabling activities.
Great news for investors with an interest in AHRO. I've got a feeling good things are on the horizon for this stock. SCN Contributor Matt Briar seems to agree with me. His editorial on the topic reveals some excellent insight. Read it here.
LSTG Points Drilling for Gold
Lone Star provided an update on the Company's 1st stage drilling progress on its Mexico-based La Candelaria gold-silver project. Lone Star has a 70% Working Interest in the project, which comprises ~1,976 acres (~800 hectares) of mining concessions located roughly 125 miles (200 km) southwest of the capital city of Chihuahua State, Mexico.
Gold investors should welcome the constant communication LSTG continues to provide its investors and potential investors. A read of their PR provides an excelent mapped layout and plan of their prospects. Although LSTG offers a high risk high reward opportunity, it appears their diligence and strategies are very well researched. A positive when so many other junior gold miners fail to deliver.
FROG Leaps in Asia
Talk about Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, as we suspected, FROG has really caught the attention of early stage investors. The stock has been on a tear both up and down over the last few days and it appears to be a trader's dream. If you're going to continue to play FROG, I'd buy the dips and sell the rips. This one is shaping up to be fairly exciting considering it's traded within a range of roughly $.15 cents since it caught fire early this week and for a $.40 cent stock, there's some profits to be had if you can catch the right side of this trade.
The Company announced some unusally good traffic #'s for Asia and abroad this morning for such a new Internet play. Not bad. Read the details here.
Trading Updates and of Course a Little Humor
Rite Aid (RAD) did not disapppoint with their recent quarterly earnings announcement early this morning. The Company reported third quarter losses narrowed, as its pharmacies improved sales at stores open at least a year and the drugstore operator's customer loyalty program continued to grow.
The trade is still in tact with roughly the same gains in tact since it traded up nicely in recent weeks. I really think the risk reward on this trade is very good for now and into the near-term. Let's see a nice hard break above $1.21 and it will likely be game on.
Blue Earth (BBLU) has run into some chart recent resistance of late. However, the stock has pulled back to its 200 Day Moving Average which more often than not provides a base for patient investors to enter. The Company has been quiet on the news front of late and my guess is that's not going to stay that way for long. This Company is hot on the acquistion trail and I think this story is in the very early stages of unfolding nicely.
Our rocket USPR trade has again pulled back. Like I said the other day, never let a gain turn into a loss. If you took profits, smart. You can re-enter again here because the volume and price action in this stock seems to be shaking the tree and moving higher with wild swings in the stock. An excellent trading stock for speculative players. My observation is something positive is going on here that has yet to be revealed to the public markets. Let's keep playing with this one.
I've got to point this out. SCN Contributor Jonathan Yates has pegged a few stocks as being extrmely overvalued and suggested some very very profitable short trades in recent weeks and months. I know, many believe short selling is unamerican but the truth is short selling is an absolute must in the markets. It's all part of the checks and balances that makes the market what it is.
Jonathan called the short-term collapse of gold back in August. Proof here. He also called to get short LULU, FFN and UA. He pounds the table here. More hidden value as to why all small stock palyers should be part of the SmallCap Network.
Lastly, I'm going to apologize in advance to all SCN Lady Members for this one but I just thought it was too funny! Remember, it's just humor but this video on why men pull away had me almost in tears: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-yLGIH7W9Y. In all fairness to our lady members, if you have something to fight back with, please send it in and I'll share :)
That's it for Today. Back at ya' tomorrow.
