It's May 1st Monday and the markets aren't showing any signs of weakness. All of the major indices are up on the day with tech clearly leading the markets' charge higher. So, we asked John Monroe from our very own Elite Opportunity Pro here to give us his thoughts on where these markets were headed, where the strength will be and why. The answers were pretty insightful.

First, his thoughts on the overall markets were that the entire earnings landscape is and will continue to drive the markets higher on a long-term basis, despite interest rates rising. For example, he pointed to the fact that even just this quarter - so far 57% of companies have reported their quarterly earnings, 75% of them have beat estimates, while only 16% of them have missed. That's a huge number, he says, one that's likely to continue.

About three years ago, John Monroe over at Elite Opportunity Pro suggested a stock to his clients, BioTelemetry, Inc. (NASDAQ: BEAT), a NASDAQ small cap that provides cardiac monitoring, cardiac monitoring device manufacturing, and centralized cardiac core laboratory services.

At the time, the stock was around the $8 and change level, but has since traded north of $33 per share - which is even sharply up from its April low of $25 per share. The lesson all along though when it came to investing in BEAT was to buy it when it was down, have a little patience, and hope management did the right things. It now goes without saying they've done that in spades.

It's a great day for an awful lot of SCN members out there today - who either took a position in Cell MedX Corp. (OTCBB: CMXC) back when we first brought you the idea this year on March 1st - or took a position in iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ: IRBT) when John Monroe stepped into our free newsletter back on February 10th and gave everyone the idea in an effort to earn your subscription business.

Both ideas are up 27% and 15% respectively on the day. However, both are up roughly 100% since those dates I just mentioned above! Sure, we've all had our fair share of losers throughout our long investing lifetimes, but it's not too often someone can say they put two double baggers out there in just a few short months either.

The markets continue to rip higher with no clear end in sight. That's a good thing. It's also proving to create a tailwind for the entire small and micro cap space. However, not all small and micro cap stocks are created equal, ever. While the markets are clearly in breakout mode, there's a plethora of penny stock names out there that continue to get left behind - many for good reason and many for no good reason whatsoever.

Even in a spiraling downward market, you'll have penny stocks that rocket and penny stocks that fall apart into oblivion. Point being, penny stocks often do trade completely independent of the rest of the markets, so don't be surprised when the markets are down, you're penny stock is up, and vice versa.
