Between skirmishes in Iran, a reprisal of tensions in Ukraine, disappointing retail sales for May, in addition to an overbought market that hinted at a correction yesterday, it comes as no real surprise stocks struggled today. On the other hand, it's still not like stocks are past the point of no return. The only thing the pullback over the last couple of days has done is burn off the overbought condition that developed a couple of weeks ago. This isn't a reason to get hysterical.

Happy hump-day, fellow traders. No real surprises today. The market was already starting to feel the weight of the overheated runup it's been through over the past three weeks or so, and the inevitable second-thoughts have finally started to surface. And yes, we suspect things are going to get a little more bearish from here. As for whether or not things get a lot bearish, well, that will depend on some other things falling into place.

Ho-hum. Stocks didn't do much of anything today, as traders continue to weigh the odds of more upside versus the potential for a pullback. The S&P 500 closed just a hair under breakeven levels. There's still plenty of stuff going on to talk about though, like bonds resuming a downtrend that's going to make stocks even better-looking than they already were.
