Welcome back from the weekend, folks.

Has this year's Presidential election produced enough drama for you yet? Man, I've never seen anything quite like it. You can't script this stuff. The timing of all the news has been perfect too, maximizing the tension. I keep waiting for someone to say "Surprise! It's all just an elaborate hoax played on American citizens." Just amazing.

Anyway, it'll all be over by tomorrow evening, for better or worse.

Good Friday afternoon one and all (or good Saturday morning, or maybe even good Monday morning). Whenever it is you read the SmallCap Network newsletter though, you're likely reading this edition at a time when you have to make a decision about what's sure to be a pivotal Presidential election. The latest matter to weigh? October's jobs report, which was posted on Friday morning.

Since we know you're not getting the complete picture anywhere else and would like to get a complete, accurate look at what's really going on in terms of jobs, we're going to devote a lot of our time and space today examining all the important employment data. Maybe this will be the last dose of economic information you need to make the best decision you can come Tuesday.

Let's just start by fleshing out the rest of the story for what you already know. Last month, the nation added 161,000 nonfarm jobs, which was enough to move the unemployment rate from 5.0% back to 4.9%. Also note that September's job growth pace was revised from 156,000 to 191,000.

Howdy all. How 'bout those Cubbies, huh? The 108 year dry spell since Chicago's last World Series win has finally been brought to a close... with the Billy Goat curse being lifted in what has to be one of the best World Series games played in a long, long time. Even the Cleveland Indians players agreed it was one of the best-ever games to watch. Too bad they had to actually play in it rather than simply sit back and enjoy it.

Spring training starts in 117 days, by the way. I'm sure a bunch of people are already thinking about it.

Enough about baseball though. Let's talk stocks, starting with the most important news we saw today. Some of you may have seen it too... Viva Entertainment Group (OTTV) just secured a mountain of funding. This money will seed the company's revenue rainclouds.

Hello all, and happy hump-day. It wasn't an especially happy day for investors, of course, who watched stocks log a fifth straight day of losses, pulling the indices below key support levels in the process.

We'll look at it below, as we usually do. First though, a couple of news items from our list of Featured Stocks.

Remember Biotricity (BTCY)? This was the medical device company developing a remote-monitoring technology for (among others) heart patients. The last we heard about BTCY was the October 25th announcement that it was indeed expanding its scope, planning on using its remote-monitoring capabilities to enter the fetal monitoring, sleep apnea monitoring, and peri-operative monitoring markets to its list of targets. We still contend the proverbial big Kahuna, however, was the October 18th news that the FDA has given 510k clearance for a key part of its bioflux heart monitoring device. That green light pushed BTCY one step closer to entering the $20 billion heart monitoring market.

Did you notice the odd part about today? For the first time in a long time, bad news was actually treated as bad news. By that I just mean rather than the knee-jerk reaction that indicates traders are thinking "bad news means the Fed can hold off on a rate hike," today the mindset was "the Fed's postponement of a rate hike can't save us from this mess."

That bad news was two-fold. Auto sales for October were disappointing, and for the first time in five years we saw a year-over-year dip in construction spending.
