Oremex - Tejamen results get the Gold for Silver.
Tuesday
morning, Oremex Resources (TSXV:
ORM) released drilling results from seven holes in the Cerro Prieto
zone of its Tejamen silver property in the State of Durango, Mexico. (Release
attached below)
Yes, they're good.
Each release of exploration
and drilling results further validates a mining company's worth. Continued
accumulation of Oremex shares, based on these results and more to come--as
well as the quality of its management-- is recommended.
Since
our Trading Alert a week ago, the shares--then C$1.19-- have seen an increase
of 7 percent to close at C$1.27, Monday and hit a high last Thursday of
C$1.33 on heavy volumes. Given the uniqueness of Oremex and the lack of
pure silver plays available to investors, we believe that there is significant
upside to come for the shares over the next 6-12 months, if not sooner.
The rise in the silver price shows
little signs of abating. The metal crossed $8 an ounce earlier in April
--a level that hasn't been seen with any conviction since the late 1980's
when silver made its way to $11 an ounce. While now is the time to be in
silver, SmallCap Natural Resource wants to ensure that our readers are
also in the right plays, such as Oremex.
Apparently, the Tejamen results are
better than Oremex's management originally thought and, included, for example,
one intersection of 485 feet in drill hole 18 that showed a significant
grading of 4.12 ounces of silver per tonne. Smaller intersections in that
same hole showed even higher grades. As well, each of five other holes
had several significant intersections that exceeded 3 ounces of silver
per tonne.
The full report --with a chart of
intersections and grades-- is included in the Press Release.
A resource figure for the area will
likely be delineated over the next several weeks.
Drilling in the second Tejamen zone--El
Manto--has commenced and Oremex has kicked off that program by exploring
previous holes that have historically evidenced high grades of silver.
Exploration programs on Oremex's
five other properties within Durango and Zacatecas are scheduled for 2004.
It's certainly a busy time for the young company and its shareholders as
it explores in several promising silver areas within the largest silver
producing country--Mexico--in the world.
The Durango area is not without its
major players. Hecla's (NYSE:
HL) major San Sebastian mine, 56 miles northeast of the city of
Durango covers concessions over 100 square miles. Between the cities of
Durango and Zacatecas lies Pan American Silver's (NASDAQ:
PAAS) expansive La Colorada mine. Others in the State of Durango
include Wheaton River and Capstone Gold--among many others. Geographically,
these companies are located in various areas of Durango, evidencing the
vast number of rich silver locations within the State.
The building of a resource company
means the building of resources. While developing reserves and subsequent
production takes time, the process is ongoing as old reserves are depleted
and exploration for new resources is always underway. In just a few short
months, Oremex has put together an excellent and experienced management
team and, as Tuesday's results from Tejamen show, delivered very compelling
exploration results in a short period of time.
Given the caliber of that management
and the "legs" (according to Chairman Tony Harvey) of the Durango area
as a silver producer, we believe that the leverage afforded by Oremex represents
an excellent value at these levels for risk-oriented investors who wish
to participate in the progress of the metal. This time, the silver market
has the look of delivering some significant excitement over the next few
months and years.
Junior miners and explorers, in this
case Oremex, tend to exceed the returns of simply owning the metal alone
over the medium and long term.
For a discussion of some trading
options and exchange rate considerations for this Canadian listed stock,
please refer to the Primer at the end of our previous
Oremex article.
Press release
Oremex intersects 4.12 ounces of
silver per tonne over 485 feet at the Tejamen Silver property, State of
Durango, Mexico

TSX Venture Exchange:
ORM www.oremex.com
VANCOUVER, April 13
/CNW/ - Oremex Resources Inc. (TSX VEN:ORM)
is pleased to announce excellent drill results (see table below) on its
Tejamen Silver property, located in the State of Durango, Mexico. Recent
drilling in the Cerro Prieto zone indicates a much larger and higher grade
deposit than was originally envisaged by management. Wide intersections
(up to 485 feet) in each of holes 13, 18, 27, 28, 29 and 33 exceeded 3
ounces of silver per tonne.
Drill hole 18 intersected
silver mineralization from surface, and bottomed in similar mineralization
at 656 feet (all of the holes were drilled at an angle of 60 degrees from
surface), with the thickest intersection being 485 feet grading 4.12 ounces
of silver per tonne. Another intersection in hole 18 assayed 5.53 ounces
of silver per tonne over 20 feet.
To date, 8 "fences" of
holes (with each "fence" being 50 meters, or 164 feet apart) have been
drilled perpendicular to the strike of the mineralization. Along the fences,
holes have been drilled every 30 meters (98 feet). The better intersections
to date have been encountered in the last couple of holes drilled on the
eastern end of each of the fences, resulting in the deposit being wide
open to the east. In addition, the deposit is open along strike in both
directions.
The Cerro Prieto zone
is one of two silver zones identified to date on the Tejamen property.
Drilling on the second zone (El Manto) has commenced, and will initially
focus on "twinning" previous holes that generated high grade intersections
(including one of 22.7 ounces of silver per tonne over 52 feet).
Oremex has an additional
five properties located in Mexico, on which exploration programs will be
undertaken during 2004.
Following are some of
the recent apparent drill intersections on the Cerro Prieto zone - please
see a drill location map on the Oremex website at www.oremex.com
Intersections from Oremex's
prior drilling (see February 18, 2004 news release) included 3.48 ounces
of silver per tonne over 216 feet, 3.22 ounces per tonne over 85 feet,
and 2.80 ounces per tonne over 197 feet. Randall Reneau, P. Geo, Oremex's
Chief Geologist, is the Qualified Person (QP) responsible for the Tejamen
exploration and has verified the data in the
table above.
