AlphaTec and Biodel Reloaded Good afternoon everyone. Indeed, it's doubly good in that it's a Friday, and though this is also the day of the normal tax-filing deadline, this year the IRS has given us until April 18th to get them in. (Should make for a fun weekend, eh?) No new trading ideas today....if you want to get technical about it. We do want to reiterate a couple of prior calls though. Both have exploded and retreated since first being recommended, but it looks like the window of opportunity is opening again. You can see for yourself here. The prior advice still applies though... if you get a big enough profit in hand, take it. We aren't trading grandma's money here. Other stuff.... If the economy is so #@&%$* bad, why are these things happening? A handful of stocks to watch - and perhaps trade (or maybe not) - today. They were among the most active in pre-market trading; this is what we see as the best way to handle them.   Important Community Activity Do we have the best traders and contributors on our community or what? Here's some of their 'best of the best' for the last week, but before we get to it, don't forget - you're invited to become one of the hot commodities at our site. Whether you want to analyze, make stock picks, or call other people out on their BS (respectfully), you can do it at our community site. [Coolest part of all: thousands will see your picks and commentary.] On with the show.... It's one thing to add the cons to the pros when talking about a stock, but it takes brass cajones to flat-out say a stock like Amazon.com (AMZN) is plain old overestimated. Is big pharma really as interested in Dara Biosciences as Dara wants to think it is, or is it just a lot of BS? M.E. Garza's got a little background on why this truly may be the case, but the link in the article really explores the question. Bryan Murphy spotted a couple of interesting bounce plays. Decent risk/reward scenario. Small cap software names have been hot over the last six months. Infosys Technologies Limited (INFY) is looking like one of the juicer ones too. Ya' know, aligned with the fact that we've touted a couple of junior energy names this week, there's actually a reason the market's been buzzing over them. Don Seal has found three more, and brilliantly points out that they really aren't all that speculative anymore. Of course, that's all relative. Jennifer Gorton has probably posted more cogent, rationale thoughts in the last week than the rest of us has posted in the last month. This long-term look at Pozen (POZN) was one of the real stand-outs, though interestingly, it was the six-month outlook that proved to be the most compelling part of the write-up. OK option traders, if you're looking for some buy/write combos, Scott Brown over at the Dark Horse Hedge has posted some yay and nay decisions for the five names he's been following. On a couple of them he's looking to write until the cost basis is zilch, at which point he'll start selling calls against the stock and make it a yield play (pretty savvy). Nike (NKE) was in crap-town just a month ago. Now it's on top of the world again, and still climbing. Sometimes you can really overthink things. Don't read too much into earnings from certain companies. Don Seal explains which names matter, and which ones don't (and it's not the ones you probably think).   Takin' Care of Business Next week's schedule is pretty light in terms of sponsored e-mailings. The only one in the lineup right now is for Tuesday, meaning we'll have regular newsletters on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Be sure to check out Tuesday's message as well though, as those advertisers are who keep this newsletter free. Odds are at least one of the regular mailings will have a new trading idea.   We Value Your Feedback Got comments, questions or suggestions? We want to hear from you. Send us your feedback.
