Market Outlook
You know what's
amazing about Friday's implosion of the market? Despite the fact that we've
ban talking about it for weeks, and despite the fact that a correction
is long overdue, even Friday's pullback hasn't delivered what could be
considered a 'death blow'.
Barring any unlikely changes
between now and Friday's closing bell, the market will still close out
the week with a win, scoring the eighth winning week in the last nine.
Trend followers, though nervous, have to acknowledge the trend is still
on the bullish side of the fence.
On the other hand, man-o-man
are the bears in attack mode.
As it stands right now, the
S&P 500 has gained 8.3% since the bottom of November's lull, and 21%
since the August bottom. There's not been a healthy correction over that
five-month span either, which is nerve-racking at this point. Traders know
it's coming, but they don't know when. They know it's soon though, and
may well be now.

Remanufacturing
Becomes a Hot Issue in Washington
Going green
isn't just a concept for energy or recycling aluminum cans anymore. It
is becoming big business for manufacturers around the world as profit margins
are generally better than newly manufactured products. Refurbished, or
remanufactured, products extend the life-cycle of a product and increase
the bottom line of companies that facilitate the process.
Auto
Dealerships Soar
New and used
car sales are trending up. Way up. This has been proven to be very beneficial
for the stocks of some auto industry public companies. Whether they be
new car dealerships, used car dealerships, or online auctions that have
their hand in the auto buy/sell industry. Everyone's benefiting. Sales
of luxury cars could be an indicator of consumer confidence and things
to come.
New
Rules From the SEC Favor the Shareholder
The newly enacted
Dodd-Frank Act is going to give shareholders a little bit more say on what
compensation packages public company executives receive and is going to
put those compensation packages a little bit more under the microscope.
That's good news, in general, for shareholders, but is it going to prevent
future executives walking away from failing companies with millions in
their pockets leaving shareholders holding the bag? Probably not.
Gold
Dives as Traders Bail Out for the Broader Market
Gold has been
a hot commodity for the last several years. With global fear and panic
over currencies, devaluation, and inflation, gold has ridden the fear wave
to new highs. About 300% increase in 5 years isn't bad for any security.
But, like they say, "What goes up, must come down."
Two
IPOs that Could Cause a Stir
Some more IPOs
this week that could provide a good opportunity for investors. IPOs are
usually exciting for investors, but it doesn't always mean its a good investment.
