Good Friday all. So far, the markets are ripping this morning on the heels of yesterday's strong move into the close. Sellers spent the good part of the day yesterday getting the indexes to crack to the downside, but to no avail. We were in that camp with an open put options position, but have since closed them out this morning and taken our lumps. We mentioned yesterday if the QQQ's traded back above that $69.45, it was best to cover up. We followed our own advice. This market has been and looks like it will continue to be very resilient regardless of what the economic landscape looks like or the uncertainty surrounding the elections. It just doesn't appear big money is concerned about much, which suggests this market right now is either very technically driven, third quarter earnings are going to be much better than we all expect, or we're setting up stocks to fail on weaker than expected earnings. The media is strongly attributing the markets' opening strength this morning to a forty four month low in jobless claims. However, the bottom line is the indexes have and will likely continue to move higher on any sort of positive news. For whatever reason, stocks have the wind at their backs right now. Although we were wrong about our very short-term view of the markets, we've been spot on for months continuing to suggest the markets have every technical reason to continue moving higher. Today's move is more proof. The weekly charts are still very bullishly intact and right now, we've still got a ways to go to the upside before we run into any logical resistance or profit taking levels. Other than our bearish short-term outlook this week, we've continued to suggest buying the dips and selling the rips. We should all likely stick with that stance until proven otherwise. I guess our opening comments in yesterday's newsletter ruffled a few feathers. Everyone's perception is their reality right? It's funny how so many people can read the same thing and pull a different meaning from it. I'm going to paste a few of the stronger comments here we received after yesterday's newsletter just to give you an idea of what I'm referring to. We'll keep their names out of it to protect their privacy. These are excellent examples of what's going on in the minds of investors out there right now... One reader wrote, "Why do you insist on a political correctness in your positioning about the outcome of this presidential election? You are for small business opportunities and there is no way you can equate the Obama and Romney plans as just something we have to deal with whichever way it turns out. In Obama's stated goals of hyper regulation, increased taxes, higher energy costs and Obama Care that will ruin many small business, out of businesses, there is a very real difference from what Obama believes and what we know to be best policy for growth. You do not do your readers a service by not demonstrating how these practices will affect our economy in general and our small business investments especially." I couldn't agree more. Another reader wrote, "There was nothing Presidential about Mitt Romney's theatre of lies. The fact that SmallCap Network would embrace this mean-spirited, un-American stooge, and promote his staged, bald-faced lies tells me that it's time to end our "relationship" permanently. Don't ever contact me again." I couldn't unsubscribe him fast enough, it was the very first thing I did this morning. If you can't have opinions in this country and respect that everyone is entitled to one, then you don't deserve the privilege of receiving a newsletter free of charge where we do our best to provide investors with a very objective view of the markets and even go to great lengths to provide specific ideas that can make all of our readers money. And, our track record has been very good if you've been following along for a while. Lastly, another reader wrote, "You don't really think Obama gives one s$!* about small business.. do you????" Well Sir, no I don't believe he really does. Politics in this country and the reason this country is the greatest country on earth is because we have the freedom of speech and the privilege to debate. If everyone agreed and we all ran around like a trained herd of sheep, what would that be like? I think it's pretty safe for you to assume I don't think Obama has done one thing for small business or even the middle class for that matter since being in office. As a matter of fact, I travel the country from time to time for various reasons and if you really pay attention, you will find more small businesses with their front doors boarded up than ever before. Folks, it's a sign of the times and the reality is this country was built on old fashioned ideals and principles. And, I believe those ideals and principles must be returned to this country to establish the foundation once again that made us the greatest country on earth in the first place. Have a great weekend and we'll see you on the other side.
